Russian-Jewish Folk Art Festival (Montreal, December 2009)

The 7-day festival will feature a lot of culture-related events. The first one to mention will be an amazing, cheerful event aimed at demonstrating the variety and unique nature of cultures and traditions of the ex-Soviet ethnic groups and, at the same time, their unity as well as diversity of the cultural identity of Jews and other ethnic groups, various forms of their artistic expression, such as dancing, music, painting, folk arts, fashion, cooking.

The festival will feature numerous exhibitions, interesting symposia and expositions. The spectators will hear songs, learn history, geography, culture, handicraft arts of East European Jews.

Reflecting the diversity of the Montreal Jewish community, the festival will offer Quebecers and guests to Montreal delicious meals that belong to many East European cuisines from countries that belonged to the Soviet Union.

Kids and grownups will enjoy the rich program of traditional and modern music.

Meeting the compatriots

The United Community of Russian-Speaking Jews of Quebec has decided to turn such meetings into traditional events. Preserving our culture, our ethnic identity, we, at the same time, absorb the cultures of ethic groups that surround us and, eventually, perceive as our own their language and folklore, songs and dances, their cuisines. And, although we have to live far away from our native countries, we do remember and love the land where we were born and grew up.

Such meetings occur on a regular basis. The participants are musicians, singers, and, of course, the spectators themselves, our compatriots.

People from all over the former Soviet Union live in Montreal. We look forward to new meeting with our compatriots. Please watch the advertisement.
